DUBAI, U.A.E., & London, UK: Over the past 12 months, dnata has invested more than GBP20 million in facilities, equipment, training and technology to support the growth of aviation in the United Kingdom.
The air services provider marked another milestone last month: commencement of passenger and ramp handling at London’s Gatwick airport (LGW). With the additional services, dnata now provides a full range of airport operations services to customer airlines flying to LGW.
dnata UK has ground and cargo handling capabilities at London’s Heathrow, Gatwick and Manchester airports as well as cargo handling services at Birmingham, Glasgow, Nottingham East Midland and Newcastle, and facilitates the movement of cargo through 17 regional airports with its intra-airport trucking operation.
“The UK is a global aviation hub, and our goal is to support the industry’s growth throughout the region,” said Gary Morgan, CEO of dnata’s UK operations. “We now offer passenger handling services at five of the UK’s busiest terminals, including Heathrow’s T2, T3, and T4, Manchester, and now Gatwick. Our customers have access to a full-service team of experts at each of these terminals, supporting their needs.”
dnata’s expanded operations at LGW started last week, handling three flights a day. To support the additional services, the company hired over 100 new employees to deliver dispatch, ramp and passenger handling. The new services launched this past year have created over 550 jobs throughout the UK.
Each year, Gatwick airport welcomes over 38 million passengers. dnata has invested close to GBP2 million in facilities, technology, and equipment to deliver ground handling services at the airport. The company will use a large range of ground support equipment to handle passengers and baggage for its airline customers.
“Our airport and airline partners are the reason for dnata’s growth across the UK,” added Morgan. “We have spent years building the strong reputation we now have in the region. It is a great vote of confidence in our people and capabilities when airports award us ground handling rights, and customers ask for us to expand to support their growth.”
dnata’s UK operations have grown considerably over the past year, responding to increasing customer and airport demands. dnata employs 2,500 people across the region, handling over 25,000 aircraft turns a year, and over 600,000 tonnes of cargo.
